Firemac FM Fire Ducts are life safety systems, and are subject to internationally recognised test standards including BS 476-24:1987 and BS EN 1366-1:2014. Firemac FM Fire Ducts, including the fire stopping system at wall penetrations, have also satisfied the performance criterion of the hose stream test to ASTM E119. Firemac FM Fire Ducts – Testing
Standard ventilation ductwork offers limited protection against fire spread, so fire and smoke can spread rapidly through a building, penetrating fire compartment walls and floors and cutting off means of escape. Therefore, it is vital that safety critical products are rigorously tested.
Firemac FM Fire Duct systems have been tested and assessed to BS 476-24:1987, demonstrating fire resistance of up to four hours for both Duct Type A (fire outside the duct) and B (fire inside the duct). A full appraisal of Firemac FM Fire Duct systems, which includes a summary of the supporting test evidence, has been issued by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and is available on request (Global Assessment P101930-1001).
Firemac FM Fire Ducts, including the fire stopping system at wall penetrations, have also satisfied the performance criterion of the hose stream test to ASTM E119.
Metro projects typically require further testing and Firemac FM Fire Ducts have also passed the impact, flame, smoke, and toxicity tests which are required for transit systems around the world, including the Doha, Jakarta, Delhi, and London MTR systems. Firemac FM Fire Ducts have been approved and/or installed in these projects.
Independent inspection of Firemac FM Fire Duct systems has been carried out by IFC Certification Ltd, a UKAS accredited and internationally recognised provider of Third Party Certification, with offices in the UK and the Middle East.

Firemac FM Fire Ducts demonstrate fire resistance of up to four hours when exposed to temperatures above 1,000 °C in fully developed fire performance tests.
